Anawim Clothes Closet

Are you, or anyone you know, in need of clothes?  The Anawim Clothes Closet is up and running.  This is a clothes closet for families, not just homeless folks.  The hours of operation are during the regular day shelter times, which makes it a two-fer: you can grab some clothes and some coffee and conversation.

Celebrate Spring with Outgrowing Hunger's 3rd Birthday Party and Garden Workshop! Your are invited to join us this Saturday May 31st, when we will be hosting a free garden workshop and celebration of Outgrowing Hunger's 3rd year of helping families to connect with fresh, affordable produce in their own neighborhoods. When: Saturday May 31st, 1pm - 5pm Where: Neighborhoods Community Garden, 835 SE 162nd Ave, Portland Who: All participants & supporters of Outgrowing Hunger projects, people who are interested in our work, people who live near any of our gardens, kids, families, foodies, food justice advocates, etc... Pets are not allowed in the garden itself. What: 9:00 - 12:30 Community Farm Session with Grow Portland- Work & Learn on the new 1/2 acre farm! 1:00pm Garden Tours & Networking 2:00pm Workshop: Natural Pest Control, Good Watering Practices, & Crop Timing 3:00pm Prepare Food Together & Learn a new recipe-  Wood-fired Pizzas, samosas & curry (Free, but donations are gladly accepted) 4:00pm - 5:00pm Eat, hang out, and finish with a birthday cake! Free meals on Saturdays in Gresham!

Although Zarephath Kitchen--meal central in Gresham for over 25 years-- is closed on Saturdays, there are three other options to get a meal in Gresham.

Anawim Christian Community has had Saturday meals in Gresham for 14 years. They open at 11am and have food, food boxes and clothes available until 3pm every Saturday.

Back to School Clothing

The Chapel in Troutdale is holding their annual Back-to-School Clothing giveaway. It will be Saturday, September 7th, from 9am until 12pm. They will have both children's and adult clothing.

The One-Sheet-Handy-"Where-Do-I-Go-If-I-Have-Need" Resource

This doesn't have all the resources you need in East Multnomah County, (162nd and East), but it's a good start, especially if you're of the very poor or homeless.

If you are a church or service organization, might I recommend that you print this up and hand it out.
