Healthy Sister Transportation

Healthy Sisters, our medical transportation program for women who have experienced homelessness, is growing! In 2014 we double the number of rides provided from 56 (in 2013) to 116 in 2014.

We are currently recruiting more riders for the program and we will need new drivers to help respond to the growing need.

Drivers receive:

  • Fellowship with women who have had different life experiences
  • Opportunity to support women in being empowered and improving their own health
A few other important facts about giving rides:
  • Drivers in the program set their own schedules and take only the rides that work for them
  • There is no obligation to interact with the women outside of giving rides
  • Women are referred into the program by a case manager

The next training is May 21, 2015 at 2pm.  Please contact New City Initiative to find out more!
